Today in the garden.

The Sungold tomatoes are just starting to ripen, and the eggplant is looking good. The dill has bloomed and is so beautiful!

Hopefully I will get some squash this year. The flying saucer has some nice blooms - we will see if they turn into fruit.

Heirloom Tomatoes, Peppers, Eggplant

I planted 8 different tomatoes today, mostly heirloom, classic eggplant, tomatillo, cubanella pepper, tasty poblano pepper, and golden California wonder bell pepper. I got them all at Keller's Farmstand in Oswego because they have a wide variety and great prices. This year I got Brandywine, Yellow Brandywine, Green Zebra, Supersonic, Arkansas Traveler, Black Plum, Black Cherry, and Sweet 100's. I wish that they would have had Sungold, but since they I didn't and I ran out of seed last year, I will have to look elsewhere. I did not water, but it is supposed to rain a lot tonight and tomorrow morning. I am also banking on it not getting into the 40's anynore!

In the ground, today:
golden beets
red beets
dash spinach
unknown spinach
mr. big pea
arugula
lettuce

Transplanting!

My how the little ones have grown! It was time to find bigger homes for my tomatoes and broccoli, so I just transplanting everything today. I have lots of extras to share with friends now, which is cool!

Here are the tomatoes before I split them up, snap of the first set of baby leaves, and plant as deep as I could into a bigger pot.

Here are the kale sprouts about to get new digs.

All done! I have a tray in the bigger pots, and a tray of the sprouts planted back into their cells, but all alone this time. No sharing!

Kale sprouts!

So a mere 3 days ago I placed tiny seeds in dirt, and low and behold, I already have sprouts. Kale is the first seed to peek out to see the sun. How can something this tiny be so exciting!
